Find answers to common questions about using Pixemon for photo collage creation, passport and visa photo packages, client-side AI background removal, image enhancement, and 300 DPI printing.

General & Browser Compatibility

What is Pixemon?

Pixemon is a modern, free, browser-based creative photo studio. It combines an intuitive multi-image collage maker, a measured portrait print layout generator, automated AI background removal and replacement, studio image adjustments (curves, levels, histogram stretching), and high-resolution 300 DPI export into a single streamlined workspace.

Is Pixemon really 100% free?

Yes, absolutely. Pixemon is free for all personal and commercial photo editing tasks. We do not require credit cards, trial subscriptions, or accounts. We also never stamp your exported images with watermarks. The service is sustained entirely through unobtrusive online advertisements.

Do I need to download or install desktop software?

No installation is required. Pixemon runs directly inside all modern web browsers, including Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Microsoft Edge, Apple Safari, and Chromium-based mobile browsers on Windows, macOS, Linux, Android, and iOS.

Can I use Pixemon on my mobile phone or tablet?

Yes. Pixemon features a fully responsive interface. On mobile and tablet screens, dedicated "Tools" and "Layouts" toggle drawers provide easy access to editing panels while maximizing your viewing canvas.

Privacy & Security

Are my private photos uploaded to a cloud server?

No. Pixemon processes your pictures strictly inside your computer's local browser memory using HTML5 Canvas, WebGL, and client-side WebAssembly. Your photos are not sent to, stored on, or analyzed by our remote web servers. When you close the browser tab, your photos are cleared from memory.

Can I use local AI models for background removal?

Yes. Pixemon supports loading ONNX model files (such as BiRefNet) directly from your local hard drive into ONNX Runtime Web. This ensures that even advanced neural network calculations execute entirely on your device with complete privacy.

Passport, Visa & ID Photos

What dimensions should I use for US passport photos?

US Department of State regulations require photos measuring exactly 2 x 2 inches (51 x 51 mm). The head height from chin to crown must measure between 1.0 inch and 1.375 inches (25 mm to 35 mm). Background must be plain white or off-white.

Does one photo size work for every country?

No. UK printed passport photos use 35 × 45 mm, while India OCI uses 2 × 2 inches. Other applications can differ. See our official-source guide; Pixemon does not guarantee acceptance.

How do I print multiple passport photos on a 4x6" photo card?

In Pixemon, select the 2x4 Print Grid template from the right sidebar. This arranges eight 35 × 45 mm copies. Check that the dimensions and printing method meet your application requirements. Avoid automatic cropping or scaling and measure a test print. Canada requires a commercial photographer and professional prints.

What is the "20 image 10 + 10" split package?

The "20 image 10 + 10" package is a hybrid layout that formats 20 passport photos on a single sheet, split into two sets of 10. You can populate the first 10 slots with one photo (e.g. Applicant 1) and the remaining 10 slots with a second photo (e.g. Applicant 2 or a second family member), making it ideal for family visa applications.

Photo Collages & Custom Layouts

Can I customize the size and angle of collage slots?

Yes. Pixemon features a built-in Custom Layout Builder. You can click the "Add Layout" or "Edit" button on any collage card to add slots, define exact millimeter coordinates (X, Y), adjust width and height, and even set individual rotation angles (e.g. -3° or +4°) for playful scrapbook-style compositions.

Can I add digital picture frames and borders to my collage?

Yes. The Borders tool in the left sidebar features 20 handcrafted digital frames, including rustic barnwood, American walnut, antique mahogany, eucalyptus greenery, double gold matting, art deco glamour, and baroque gilded wood. Borders automatically scale to frame your composite image seamlessly.

Printing, Resolution & File Formats

Why is 300 DPI important for photo prints?

300 DPI (Dots Per Inch) is the universally recognized gold standard for continuous-tone photographic printing. At 300 DPI, individual printer dots are imperceptible to the human eye at standard viewing distances, resulting in crisp facial details, smooth gradients, and sharp text.

What image file formats does Pixemon support?

You can open JPEG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, BMP, and GIF files. Export options include high-quality JPEG and transparent PNG files ready for printing or web sharing.

How do I print directly from my web browser?

Click the "Print" button in the top header. In the browser print dialog that opens, select your photo paper size (e.g. 4x6", 8x10", or A4), set Margins to "None" or "Minimum", choose "Color", and ensure the print scale is set to "100%" or "Actual Size" to prevent unintended resizing.
